Perfect Pair - Apple Watch & AirPods
Did you know that you can play music straight from your Apple Watch without the iPhone? Learn how to load and play music from the Apple Watch.
Remotely control iPhone’s music with Apple Watch
- Press on the digital crown to get to the apps screen.
- Tap on Music app icon.
- Rock on.
Alternatively, if you are already playing a song on the iPhone, quickly access the music controls via Glances by swiping up on the watch face screen.
You can also get Siri to do it. Simply activate Siri with “Hey, Siri.” or with a long press on the digital crown on your Apple Watch then ask Siri to play the song you want.
A little less known fact is that you can load your music directly into the Apple Watch so you don’t need to whip out your iPhone every time you need to make a change.
Load music into your Apple Watch
- Put your Apple Watch on charge.
- Open Watch app on your iPhone.
- On My Watch tab, tap Music.
- Tap Add Music to select the songs or playlists you want to store on your Apple Watch.
Note: The Apple Watch can store up to roughly 2GB worth of music.
Tip: Alternatively, you can switch on the Heavy Rotation option on top. This will automatically add playlists and albums that you listen to a lot.
Do remember that the Apple Watch cannot play music through their own speakers. Honestly, from the POV of someone who takes public transport everyday, we are eternally grateful for this.
Instead, you will need to pair it to a pair of Bluetooth headphones or a wireless speaker. Our recommendation? Apple AirPods. The Apple Watch experience is already amazing on its own but the addition of the Apple AirPods makes it even better.
Pair AirPods with iPhone
- Open the AirPods case right in front of the iPhone.
- Click Connect.
Play music on AirPods from Apple Watch
- Press on digital crown to get to apps screen.
- Tap on Settings icon.
- Tap on Bluetooth.
- Under Devices, click on the AirPods if it’s not connected yet.
And you’re good to go. Go on. Leave the phone behind and go for that uninterrupted walk. You deserve it.
